日本語と英語における対比スルージング (contrast sluicing) を支配する制約を考察する。具体的には、多重 wh 疑問文が埋め込まれた構造における対比スルージングとそのペアリスト解釈の観察を基に、対比スルージングの認可に関与する意味的制約の解明を試みる。
