Buying Japanese music

If you would like to purchase Japanese music, I would make your first stop Amazon.com. Why buy from Amazon?

  • Amazon has a wide range of import CDs often available soon after they are released in Japan.
  • Real CDs come with liner notes and Japanese liner notes tend to include all the lyrics to your songs, making the purchase well worth it.
  • It’s legal, and that should make you feel good.
  • When you make purchases from the Amazon links on this page, a small portion of the sales goes to support The Japan Hour. Now that should make you feel good.

Note that Japanese CDs (like watermelons) are expensive. They just are… a single regularly is released at upwards of ¥1000, with albums regularly costing about ¥3000. That $30 import CD on Amazon, then, is actually not a bad deal.
